The day before the race I got a chance to meet and talk to Michellie Jones (2006 Ironman World Champion) and Craig Alexander (2007 Ironman Second Place, 2006 Ironman 70.3 Champion). They were both REALLY nice and fun to talk to. I guess professional triathletes don't "big league" us age groupers - well, at least not yet.

A panel of professional triathletes addresses the crowd in the Ironman Village the day before the race. In this picture (from left to right) is: Richie Cunningham, Michellie Jones, Craig Alexander, Samantha McGlone, and Mirinda Carfrae.

Craig tells the crowd what its like to finish second in his first ever Ironman distance race, which just so happened to be the Ironman World Championships in Kona. I think it is safe to say the Craig is my new favorite professional. He even congralutated me after the race in the "recovery tent" - and he's the one who only lost to Andy Potts by 2 seconds!

After checking in for the race I decided to kill some time loitering in the suvenier tent. I ended up buying one of those cool Ironman California bike jerseys.

The day before the race and I'm just glad to be out of the Utah cold and at the beach. The water was nice and the moist ocean air reminds me what I used to love about living in California.

Visualizing the run on this very same stretch of road. Better get to bed and get some rest. It's going to be a long day tomorrow!!

Like my new BlueSeventy Helix wet suit? Yeah, it was a little pricy, but man was it worth it! Flexible, comfortable, and easy to get off - I felt like a million bucks coming out of the water going into the bike.

Feeling great getting out of the water a full 2 minutes faster than last year. At this point 5 hours seems well within reach as I head into T1 to get on my new Cervelo P2C.

Ironman events are always to well done. Starting off the year with Ironman California 70.3 makes the other races feel amature!

My little brother, Spencer, can't put the phone down for 2 seconds to take a picture with me! What a busy body!
